Important – KGID Metering Project Status – Response Needed

Dear Lake Village Owner,

Several Board members, homeowners and Morris and I attended the regular KGID Board Meeting Tuesday night and discussed matters related to the water metering project for over an hour with the KGID Trustees and Staff.

In summary, KGID is in the planning stages only of implementing the multi-family residential component of the water metering project, having already completed the majority of the individual single family residences in their district.

Manager Cameron McKay stated that they have not determined or indicated that units with rectifiable issues that make their unit/building “not feasible” for sub-meter installations, will not be allowed to rectify those issues and be re-classified as “feasible”. They are advising Lake Village unit owners to go ahead and submit the completed water meter agreement at this time and, assuming that all owners in a building or set of buildings served by a common water lateral also agree and submit signed agreements, KGID will have their engineering firm include the units in the total sub-meter counts in their Request For Proposals (RFPs) to project bidders in early 2011. One of the KGID Trustees stated that Lake Village owners really have nothing to lose by submitting the signed agreement if they want to be sub-metered.

Therefore, if you are interested in having sub-meters installed on individual units in your building, whether or not you have received an initial “feasible” determination, all of the unit owners in a particular building must return the completed water meter agreements, if you deem them acceptable, and we recommend that they be returned by the November 30, 2010 deadline. If you need the contact info for your fellow building owners, please let us know and we will provide that to you.

If you need another copy of the water meter agreement, KGID is requiring that you contact them directly. The KGID phone number is 775-588-3548, but I would suggest that, to expedite the response, you email your request to michelle@kgid.org and ask that they attach the documents to a reply email to you. They have advised that they will combine the agreements received from units’ owners from a particular building(s).

The KGID Board, on the recommendation of Mr. McKay, decided not to extend the Nov. 30th deadline, however it was stated that they would be flexible and willing to accept returned agreements sent after the deadline, and that the deadline was their assurance that the matter would get the attention that it required, which it obviously has.

An important part of the discussion was that the metering project is subject to being brought in within the $3.3M budget that was set for the overall project. They have an idea of the amount that should be allocated to the metering of Lake Village, however, they won’t know where they are relative to the projections until they know how many buildings request sub-meters and the bids are submitted in response to the RFPs in the spring.

There were a couple of other approaches mentioned as possible alternatives but it will take KGID some time to research these to determine whether they are viable.

So, in order to be considered for installation of sub-meters by KGID, you and your fellow building owners need to act quickly. Again, please direct any questions, comments or requests to KGID at 775-588-3548 or cam@kgid.org or michelle@kgid.org

Thank you for your attention to this very important matter.

Sincerely,

Art Warrell

General Manager
